Sticky Fingers, Wedding Invitations and Moving Boxes

If you happen to fall upon this; hello!

It's been a while since my last "Honest Diary" entry and my goodness, do I have some updates for you!

Life has been a whirlwind of sticky toddler fingers, a few tears (not just toddler tears) wedding stationery designs, major organisation skills required and, to top it all off, a big move to Leicestershire.

It's been nothing short of crackers, but we’re taking it all in our stride, one sippy cup and a few wax seals at a time.

The Toddler Chronicles

Ah, life with a toddler. If you've ever wondered what it's like to live with a mini Mr bossy boots who's taken on a new found independence to have a go at everything himself, I’m here to spill the beans (literally!). Picture this: you’re in the middle of a Zoom call with a bride who wants her invitations to have "just the right amount of finesse," and suddenly, your little one decides it's the perfect time to practice their high-pitched opera skills. Because, why not?

Every day is an adventure. One minute you're negotiating peace treaties over a blue cup versus a red cup, and the next, you're trying to prevent a crayon masterpiece on your freshly painted walls.

It’s a delicate balance of nurturing creativity and keeping your sanity intact. The good news? I’ve mastered the art of creating stunning wedding stationery while simultaneously singing “Wish!" on repeat.

The Wedding Stationery Hustle

Speaking of wedding stationery, business is thriving and I couldn't be happier. My days are filled with elegant invitations, luxurious textures, and intricate embellishments. The nights? Well, they’re filled with emails, designs, and the occasional wine break (because balance, right?).

But let’s keep it real—glamorous it is not. My workspace is a delightful chaos of paper scraps, ink smudges, and, more often than not, a stray toy car or two. Yet, amidst the madness, there’s something incredibly fulfilling about helping couples tell their love story through beautiful stationery.

It's the little things that keep me going, like a heartfelt thank-you note from a bride or the joy of seeing my designs come to life.

The Big Move to Leicestershire

And then, just to keep things interesting, we decided to relocate to Leicestershire. Because juggling a toddler and a growing business wasn’t enough, right? Moving house with a toddler is like trying to herd wild cats. Boxes everywhere, a million things to unpack, and a little one who thinks bubble wrap is the best thing ever and not to mention, the emotional side of it all. I've been a hot mess of emotions.

But, we know we've made the right move. We're right in the middle of the country and it just seems easier to get everywhere!

AND, I have big plans for the business and really looking to take it to the next level over the next couple of years.

Taking It in Our Stride

Through it all, we manage. There are days when I look like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards (probably because I have), and days when everything miraculously falls into place and my husband and I sit back at the end of a busy day and say "we're doing ok!".

The key is to laugh at the chaos and celebrate the small victories—like finally finding the box with the posh coffee!

So, to all the work-from-home parents out there, juggling toddlers and to-do lists, here’s a virtual high-five. We’re in this together, making it work one day at a time.

And most of all, to my lovely clients, thank you for your patience, your understanding, and for letting me be a part of your special day, even when life behind the scenes is anything but glamorous.

Remember, your wedding is a celebration of your love and partnership. And just like my crazy, beautiful life, it’s the imperfections that make it perfect. Until next time, stay fabulous, keep laughing, and embrace the chaos. (and when I say next time, I probably mean in another years time!)

With love and stationery magic,

Katy x
